BN House transforms an existing dwelling, seeking to rediscover the most elemental essence of the house: the idea of shelter. Despite its small footprint, the proposal takes the form of a pure, solid and monolithic volume, conveying a sense of permanence and cohesion. The refined form reduces the expression of the house to its essentials, reinforcing its presence through a clear and restrained geometry.
Maintaining a fundamental relationship with the street and the surrounding built fabric, the house is reinterpreted through a contemporary architectural language. Its volume, rooted in the traditional archetype of the house, is refined through the simplicity of its planes, a restrained colour palette and the precise expression of its openings. The project thus seeks to establish a balance between the memory of the place and a new architectural identity.
The interior is organised over two floors, with the more private spaces located on the ground floor and the social areas arranged in an open-plan layout on the upper floor, extending onto a terrace. Rather than seeking to expand, the intervention seeks to condense: to transform a small house into a unified and inhabitable body, where the simplicity of its form finds expression through light, material and its relationship with the street.
