The Parque dos Combatentes is the outcome of a public space redevelopment project, envisioned to foster social engagement and encourage new modes of interaction through the design of outdoor areas that invite users to linger and support diverse uses of the site.
The project incorporates spaces for relaxation and circulation, an open-air amphitheater, a memorial honoring the local combatants who perished in the Overseas War, as well as parking facilities and public restrooms.
The architectural elements are composed with a harmonious aesthetic, where the timber cladding establishes a sense of visual continuity across the site, contrasting with the gray stone of the iconic Ponte dos 7 Arcos, a defining feature of the local landscape.
With the completion of the construction work, the space was reintroduced to the community with a revitalized identity, enhanced infrastructure, and new functionalities. It now serves as a public realm that celebrates the community’s heritage and character while responding to contemporary needs and envisioning a sustainable future.
